Sunset blvd hostel
FIRST YEAR
6407 Sunset Blvd Los Angeles CA 90028
05 / 06 / 2020
The Sunset Blvd. Hostel above was created through a set of iterations experimenting with the operation of Interlocking. By following a given criteria of square footage and programs, I created this building with careful thought of what spaces became what. I created the landscaping to resemble the geometry of my building.

ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS
COMPOSITE DRAWINGS
Composite drawings consist of an exploded axonometric drawing, site analysis, and an atmospheric collage.
The exploded axon shows the landscape and building massing + Interior and Outdoor Space + Roof and Skylights.
The site analysis indicates the streets which the building is located on and the surrounding buildings.
The Atmospheric Collage creates an overall representation of my building; the Venetian plaster serves as the base of the exterior. The use of glass panels serve as windows just to create a modern touch in order to allow a lot of open spaces throughout my building.
PHASE 01: MASS MODEL ITERATIONS
Before the hostel was created 12 models were made following specific criteria. Once choosing one final model to proceed with, two 100’L x 20’W x 15’H models at 1/8” scale were designed using a combination of one operative term (interlocking) and a digital fabrication method (3D printing powder and CNC milling).
The two models translate latent principles of construction into a physical artifact responsive to the fabrication methods deployed.
Orthographic drawings delineate the spatial and atmospheric qualities of each design.
* Below are all the 12 models used with thick foam and a foam cutter to create complex models that satisfy the operative term chosen (Interlocking).
