* final model, laser cut and built

A sequence of geometric methods aimed at transforming a platonic or Archimedean solid into an articulated mass with invented formal relationships and languages.

Logics from these were then combined and mined for formal intelligence and spacial qualities.Through each operation to the initial geometry, I practiced architectural conventions of representation, illustrating the evolving geometry and form in two and three-dimensional media.

In this phase of the assignment,  I shifted points and edges of the original solid along particular points of the grid with some process all within the confinements of the 3D 12” x 12” cube boundary. I produced two physical models that explore abstract deformation to the original solid. Using rhino, I began with the 6”x6”x6” solid modeled and placed somewhere within the 12”x12”x12” grid. The process of deformation was repeated multiple times in the digital environment resulting in more than two versions of a transformed solid.

SOLID
VOID

Once completed with the transformation and deformation model, I combined the two thinking about mass and apertures to create another model. After creating one whole model, we were asked to confine it in a cube and create a mass and void version.

ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS OF FINAL MODEL
isometric drawings + plans + sections

After creating a solid and void model, I chose my void model to create a building with; experimenting with floors, stairs, circulation, and such.

Initial geometric proposals were injected with the realities of the built environment. The requirements for this phase are threefold: circulation, program, and materiality.
